Prepping for your peel
Starting your Medik8 skin journey, normally with all the Medik8 peels, the pre-treatment advice involves using less concentrated forms of active ingredients found in the skin peels, preparing your skin in this way is essential to the final outcome of the treatment and ensures your skin is in its best condition possible.
Your practitioner will outline which medik8 products you’ll be required to use before and after your skin peel. These products will be products like SPF, serums with vitamin c and retinoids that assimilate Medik8,s philosophy.
The philosophy Medik8 has invented is called the CSA philosophy – which is as simple as using vitamin C + sunscreen during the day and then vitamin A at night. Vitamin C and SPF during the day provide antioxidant protection against free radical damage and environmental aggressors such as pollution and UV rays which are the main contributors that accelerate skin damage. The 2 products combined stimulate collage production and prevents the development of pigmentation for smoother brighter skin.
Vitamin A at night is so important for an anti-ageing routine and does many things for the skin such as speeding up cellular renewal and controlling sebum production.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A CHEMICAL PEEL?

Avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks post procedure. You can still go to the beach but wear a hat and a broad spectrum SPF50.

Don’t wax or use any form of hair removal 1 week before and up to 1 week after treatments.

Don't use any exfoliants for 1 week post treatment

Don’t use a chemical peel if your skin has been sunburned or you have any open liaisons.

Don't use any makeup for a minimum of 12 hours or use self tan for 1 week post peel.

IS THE TREATMENT SUITABLE FOR ME?
Chemical peels are suitable for almost everyone and Medik8 have a varied range from our Sensitive PHA Peel which is suitable for very sensitive skins right through to our mono peels which use high-strength single acids that can even be layered to target stubborn concerns. Certain skin conditions / people may be 'contra-indicated' and therefore shouldn't go down the peel route until skin is normalised. However, there are lots of other treatment options we offer.
